Founded in Chennai in 2000 by Advocate Thomas T. Jacob, Senior Partner, Thomas & Associates has a practice centred on the Madras High Court, particularly its Original Side and writ jurisdiction. The firm also handles civil and commercial disputes before other courts and tribunals, alongside advisory, documentation and property matters.
Thomas T. Jacob leads a team of 21 Associate Advocates and three Legal Interns. The advocates work on pleadings, court proceedings, statutory matters, title scrutiny, property due diligence and tribunal litigation. The legal interns assist with research and case preparation under the supervision of the advocates. The firm also works with senior counsel and subject specialists when the requirements of a matter call for their involvement.

Thomas & Associates has acted for clients across education, healthcare, charitable and faith-based organisations, banking, manufacturing, construction, real estate and technology. Its work for these clients has included litigation, legal opinions, property and title matters, agreements, and advice on institutional administration and statutory obligations.
In the education sector, the firm has acted for the Velammal Group of Institutions on matters including property, administration and disputes. Its work with charitable and faith-based organisations has included matters for World Vision India, YWCA (India), the Assemblies of God in India, and the Organisation for Eelam Refugees Rehabilitation (OfERR). Our founder
Mr. Thomas T. Jacob enrolled with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu in March 1997. He began his legal career with M/s Devadason & Sagar, where he practised for four years, and founded Thomas & Associates in 2000.
His practice has a particular focus on proceedings before the Madras High Court, including suits on its Original Side and petitions in its writ jurisdiction. He has advised and represented clients in civil and commercial disputes, property matters, recovery proceedings, and disputes concerning trusts, societies and other institutions. His work also includes legal opinions, transaction documents and strategies for resolving disputes.
Mr. Jacob has served on the panels of the United States Consulate General in Chennai and the Australian Consulate-General in Chennai. He is a trustee of several non-governmental organisations, has been invited to speak on subjects relating to law, and has appeared as an expert on Indian law before courts abroad.
